As a professional dog trainer I am often asked what is the best brand to use for electric dog training collars. There are literally dozens of shock collars and bark collars on the market. Very few of them, though, are built with the quality and functions that you need for your training collar. This review is for the Tri-Tronics brand electric dog training collars and related training tools.
Tri-Tronics is the oldest brand of shock collars on the market. Based in Tucson, Arizona they have been around for decades and were the first ones to pioneer using electric training methods for working with dogs.
They originally got their start manufacturing electric collars for bird dogs and hunting dogs. At one time they even operated a dog training center where dog trainers and dog owners from around the world came to learn new techniques for training with e-collars.
Nowadays their collars are used for training dogs for obedience, agility, behavior modification, protection dogs, police dogs, hunting dogs, and the everyday family pet. They offer a wide variety of collars with various functions.
Aside from electric dog training collars they also manufacture bark collars or bark inhibitors.
In my personal opinion they are the best manufactured e-collar on the market. Not only are they built well they come with amazing warranties. On several occasions I have had to get them repaired and sent them in to the company. While they are fixing the collar they send out a 'loaner' collar so that you don't have to stop training. That is definitely a huge plus.
The drawback with their remote trainers is that they don't offer a big range of correction stimulation and their knob to change the level of stimulation is sometimes hard to switch. They are also the most expensive collar on the market but in this world, you get what you pay for.
